Dujshebaev leads Kielce to first home victory in 2014

The new coach of Kielce Talant Dujshebaev led his team to the first victory on their own court, defeating Orlen Wisła Płock 38:30 in the last match of the VELUX EHF Champions League Group Phase.

There is good cause for the rivalry between Kielce and Płock to be called “Holy War”. These matches always guarantee a rise in blood pressure and are definitely not recommended for people with heart troubles. Tonight however, players of only one team were up to the task and created for their fans fantastic spectacle with impressive goals, flash-fast breaks and amazing saves.

They made it even though the result of this match was meaningless for the final ranking in the Group B as it had been established by the Danish victory gained over the French Dunkerque (26:24) a few minutes before the Polish derby started.

“We knew the result, but we wanted to perform well in this first match in our hall this year,” said Michał Jurecki.

“We never look who we are playing against and in which circumstances, we always want to win,” added Sławomir Szmal.

The hosts started their show with three goals scored in a row forcing Manolo Cadenas to take time out for his team. Coach of the “Oilers” had to help his charges to find a way to the Kielce goal guarded by Sławomir Szmal.

Polish national team goalkeeper was stopping shots from each positions (in 13 minutes he had a 67% efficiency with 8 parries!).

“Kasa was amazing in the goal! We used it and all tried to perform well on each position,” said Jurecki.

After the intervention of the Spanish coach, the losing streak was finally broken by Marcin Lijewski, but not for a long time as Kielce, noisily supported by their fans, caught the wind in their sails and created a four-goal cushion, which was consequently extended in the course of time.

Płock was helpless and the only one who managed to resist was Petar Nenadic who found a solution for the shining Szmal and defeating him 5 times until the end of the first half which finished with the result 20:12 to the benefit of Vive.

Nevertheless the advantage of the hosts was quite considerable, the encounter did not lose the high pace.

As befits the “Holy War”, players of both teams wanted to create a nice show for their supporters. The Kielce forces rolled their biggest cannon Karol

Bielecki and in the ranks of Płock it was Valentin Ghionea who decided to join Nenadic as a second leader of his team.

But even though guests did their best they did not manage to reverse the fortune and finally lost 38:30.

“We lost the match in the first half, in the second one we performed better in the defence and in the attack but it was to less for our rivals tonight, they were much better,” summarised Cadenas.

“We are still far away from Kielce, we need to practice a lot,” added Petar Nenadic.

In the end the Serbian left back said with a wide smile: “Poland should be happy having two teams in the Last 16.”
