Semi-final pairings to be confirmed by Sunday evening

As the main round stage of the Women's EHF Champions League is drawing to a close over the upcoming weekend, it seems to be vital to remind all handball fans what will decide about the next opponents for the four participants of the 2014 Women's EHF FINAL4.

According to the 2013/14 regulations semi-final pairings will be determined by a  final ranking of both main round groups and not by a draw (what is the case at the VELUX EHF FINAL4 or the EHF Cup Finals).

The winners of Group 1 will face the second ranked team of Group 2 and vice versa. Currently, before the last round of the main round, Thüringer HC sit on the top of Group 1 followed by WHC Vardar SCBT and Györi Audi ETO KC lead in Group 2 ahead of Buducnost. However no team can take its position for granted and there are still three teams (including FC Midtjylland) in the race for two semi-final tickets in Group 1.

Starting from the next 2014/15 season the playing system of the European top flight will be changed and after the main round a quarter-final stage will take place. The semi-final pairings of the 2015 Women's EHF FINAL4 will be defined by a draw.

2014 Women's EHF FINAL4 semi-final pairings:
Semi-final 1: Winner of Group 1 vs 2nd ranked team of Group 2
Semi-final 2: Winner of Group 2 vs 2nd ranked team of Group 1

The playing times and the order of play will be determined later.
