Laerke Möller leaving FC Midtjylland for Holstebro

One of the key players by Danish women's champions FC Midtjylland, Laerke Möller are leaving the Women's EHF FINAL4 participants after this season. Her new club will be Danish league rivals Team Tvis Holstebro.

The 25-year-old Danish international returned to the Midtjylland team recently after a long injury break, and in the last main round matches in the Women's EHF Champions League, she played her considerable part in the team qualifying for the final tournament in Budapest in the first weekend of May.

She is also expected to be one of the Danish team's major assets in Budapest, where Midtjylland will be facing defending Champions League winners Györ Audi ETO KC in the semi-final Saturday 3 May.

From next season, Team Tvis Holstebro, 35 kilometers from FC Midtjylland will be benefitting from the versatile centre back's skills.

“I have been extremely happy with my time in FC Midtjylland, but I feel the need to try something new. You may call it a new start,” said Laerke Möller who has signed a two year contract with the ruling Women's EHF Cup winners.

“I admit that I was a bit surprised by the first approach from TTH (Team Tvis Holstebro) but when I heard about the plans they have and the philosophy they intend to play by, it became really interesting,” she told Team Tvis Holstebro's website.

The coach: A mega scoop

“A mega scoop. Laerke is a player with some skills which not many players possess, and I do not only mean Danish players,” Team Tvis Holstebro's head coach Niels Agesen said.

“We have been looking for back court players who can play extremely fast close to the defence and put a heavy pressure on the defence at the same time, and Laerke is just perfect for that role,” Niels Agesen added.

Laerke Möller, who has been representing FC Midtjylland for five years, was part of the Danish team at the EHF EUROs 2010 and 2012, but at present she is taking a break from the national team in order to protect her body after several injuries lately.

If she will get the chance to play in the Women's EHF Champions League and maybe even the Women's EHF FINAL4 against next season is yet unknown. Her future club Team Tvis Holstebro only finished fifth in the Danish league this season, but through the play-offs they still have the chance to qualify for next season's Champions League.
