The hottest ticket in town

Hi handball fans, let me greet everybody to my first blog post for ehfCL.com!

This is a great opportunity for me to meet with friends of handball, although a little different from what I am used to when I go shopping to one of Győr’s shopping malls and markets. No autographs, no pictures together for you, guys, but I will try to compensate by telling you some personal stuff about myself. Deal?

Thor, the almighty

I’ve been living in Győr for almost five years now and although it’s extremely hard to be parted from my family, I really enjoy living here. The city is calm but it has a busy downtown with nice cafés and places to go shopping to, which I really enjoy.

Apart from that I love taking long walks along the Danube (which flows through Győr just like Budapest) with my English bulldog Thor.

I have been together with my husband for eight years now and I can only wish you to be as happy as I am in my relationship. My life is full of great adventures and I am surrounded by nice people, plus I make a living of something I really enjoy: playing handball in front of the best fans in the world.

Too hot

Hungarian cuisine is interesting and it has its own masterpieces, but I am not a big fan of spices. I enjoy cooking from time to time and I also have a friend who is a chef.

I do have two favourite Hungarian specialities: one is pörkölt, which is a kind of stew usually served with gnocchi-like potato dumplings, the other is kakós csiga, which is a chocolate pastry in the shape of a snail’s house. Yumm!

Defending of the crown

My God, I can’t wait to play in the first Women’s EHF FINAL4! I have already played in front of some huge crowds, but the event in Budapest will be a very special one. We’ve been fighting really hard to get there, our main round group was the toughest test for Győr, but we emerged as winners which boosts our confidence.

It seems if we win, we will not only defend our crown but do it undefeated. For this we need to reach peak form as we will be facing top drawer teams who can only be beaten if we give our all. This year Győr is a little bit different but it’s only normal when you have excellent players leaving and others coming. I know some people see us as less convincing than last year but let me remind them that we’re still unbeaten and go to Budapest as strong favorites.

Cool heads and hot spirits

I do agree with most of the fans: Buducnost is the strongest opponent but this doesn’t mean anything in such a prestigious event. All four teams have an equal chance to get to the final, those who think they are superior will be severely punished. We are aware of that but also know we need to respect, but not fear, any of our opponents.

I invite all of you to come to Budapest, this beautiful city, and try to get one of the hottest tickets in town for the FINAL4. If you get one, we’ll see about those pictures together, deal?

That’s it for now, stay tuned for more
Love,
Duda
