The four host cities for the 2016 Men's EHF European Championship have been confirmed by the Polish Handball Federation. Finals will be played in Krakow
Host cities announced
The four host cities of EHF EURO 2016 were confirmed during the draw event:
Krakow Arena (15,000), Krakow - preliminary, main and semi-finals and finals
Centennial Hall (6,500), Wroclaw – preliminary round, main round and placement matches
Ergo Arena (10,000), Gdansk – preliminary round
Spodek Arena (10,000), Katowice – preliminary round
The Polish Handball Federation also confirmed that Poland would play all of their matches in the 15,000 capacity Krakow Arena in Krakow.
New playing schedule
For the first time the matches of the final tournament will be played over 17 days from 15 to 31 January 2016. The change will see the main round played over seven instead of five days, with three of the four match days played with two matches per day instead of three matches.
The aim is to make the competition more attractive to television and fans as well as giving players more rest between matches.
