PSG capture big names
PSG further stegthened ts squad for the forthcoming seasons, as they signed left back William Accambray and goalkeeper Thierry Omeyer from domestic rivals Montpellier.
With an urgent need to cut the highest salaries, Montpellier decided to let go of two of its best players. PSG, who was looking for a goalkeeper in order to replace José Manuel Sierra, jumped at the opportunity and signed him for the next two seasons. He will meet with two fellow gold medallists at the last EHF EURO, Luc Abalo and Samuel Honrubia.
Omeyer is not the only player who will make the trip to the capital, since William Accambray has signed with PSG for the next three seasons. After coming through the ranks at Montpellier, he admitted that leaving his one and only club has not been an easy decision.
"Of course, it's hard to leave Montpellier next season. But then again, you have to give yourself new challenges, and Paris' one is a hugely exciting one. Playing alongside Mikkel Hansen on the left back position is undoubtedly going to make me a better player,” said the 26-year-old.
To replace them, Montpellier has signed two other big names. Venio Losert, the Croatian goalkeeper and Borut Mackovsek, the Slovenian left-back have both signed for the next two seasons.
Losert, 36, is used to playing in the VELUX EHF Champions League and took part in last season's FINAL4 in Cologne with KS Vive Targi Kielce. Borut Mackovsek has been flying around Europe this season, he joined Hannover-Burgdorf from Celje in the summer, before moving to Dinamo Minsk, thern returning to Celje in February.
In other happy news for Montpellier, Dragan Gajic and Mathieu Grébille, two key-elements of the squad, have extended their contracts until 2017, while Arnaud Siffert, EHF Cup finalist last season with Nantes, remains at the club until 2016.
