NEWS REPORT: The RadissonBLU Hotel in Cologne will host the VELUX EHF FINAL4 draw on Tuesday 29 April.
Semi-finals to be set in Cologne on Tuesday
Club managers of four teams qualified for the VELUX EHF FINAL4 will already make their first trip to Cologne next Tuesday 29 April.
More than one month before the opening throw-off of the climax of the season the semi-finals draw will determine their second to last hurdles on the way to the most coveted trophy in the club handball.
The VELUX EHF FINAL4 draw will start at 12:00 hrs local time and will be preceded by the official press conference, which will be attended also by the Mayor of City of Cologne Jürgen Roters.
Open draw
All four teams will be drawn from the same pot. The VELUX EHF FINAL4 draw will be completely open, what means that two teams from the same country can face each other in the semi-final and also two teams who already played together in the group phase.
The first semi-final will be played on Saturday 31 May at 15:15 hrs local time, followed by the second semi-final at 18:00 hrs. The playing order of semi-finals will be confirmed in due time.
The 3/4 placement match is scheduled for Sunday 1 June at 15:15 hrs and the final for 18:00 hrs.
Live coverage
The whole event will be streamed live and free on ehfTV.com. The ehfTV commentator Tom O’Brannagain will guide all viewers through the event and will also interview all club representatives right after the draw with their immediate reactions.
Fans will be also able to follow the live ticker on eurohandball.com or the live tweeting on the official @ehfCL channel.
Kiel close, Barcelona much further away
None of the teams for the VELUX EHF FINAL4 have been confirmed yet, but some teams are very close to their tickets to Cologne after the first leg. THW Kiel packed a ten-goal cushion from the first leg against Metalurg in Skopje, while Rhein Neckar Löwen will defend their seven-goal lead against the record champions FC Barcelona.
The remaining fixtures of Veszprem vs PSG and Vardar vs Flensburg remain wide open, but one thing is granted even before the second leg – there will be two VELUX EHF FINAL4 debutants coming from these pairings.
