40,000 euro for the fight against cancer
For 40 years German Cancer Aid has been promoting innovative projects and initiatives to improve the treatment of cancer patients all over Germany.
As in the previous years the fight against cancer has been at the heart of the VELUX EHF FINAL4 charity activities.
For example entry fees from the golf tournament, money that was raised in auctions and all proceeds from the prize draw were donated to the tournament's charity partner, German Cancer Aid.
Overall 40,000 euros were be raised this time and a cheque was handed over to German Cancer Aid on Sunday afternoon.
EHF Treasurer Ralf Dejaco was happy and proud handing over the cheque: "Thanks a lot to everybody who donated money for German Cancer Aid. This is a wonderful initiative to help cancer patients."
Fritz Pleitgen, president of German Cancer Aid said: “Thank you very much. This cheque is a wonderful present and support for cancer patients. I’d like to say thank you to this wonderful audience, you all help to save people’s lives. And you can all do something to stay healthy. For example, don’t smoke, eat a healthy diet and do sports. If you do that, you’ll have a long life. See you next year."
