The Veszprem left back and the THW Kiel playmaker were awarded at the 2014 VELUX EHF FINAL4
Ilic takes top scorer trophy, Palmarsson becomes MVP
There was some consolation for the players of teams not coming first at the VELUX EHF FINAL4.
At the winners' ceremony on Sunday night at the LANXESS arena MKB-MVM Veszprem's back court shooter Momir Ilic was awarded with the adidas 'Golden Ball', the trophy for the season's top scorer. Ilic had scored 103 goals in the entire season.
THW Kiel's Aron Palmarsson also received an award as he was named the weekend's Most Valuable Player - the MVP award, presented by title sponsor VELUX, was handed out for the first time in the event's history.
"I´m satisfied, because it is a personal accomplishment, and I had a great season, no false modesty here. But I wouldn't have been able to accomplish that without my team, so it goes hand in hand.
"To me, the team is in the first place and I would have rather won the trophy with them," said Momir Ilic. "We are constantly learning and next year we will come back better prepared."
Despite being named MVP, disappointment slightly overruled happiness for Palmarsson as he was presented with the trophy only minutes after THW Kiel had lost the final 28:30 to SG Flensburg-Handewitt.
"It is a great prize and I guess with some distance I can be proud about it.I have to say that at the moment I am more disappointed about us losing the game, than I can actually enjoy it. But still, I am greatful about it!”
