NEWS REPORT: The draw for the first qualification phase to the EHF's flagship national team event will take place on 22 July
Registration starts for Men's EHF EURO 2018
The European Handball Federation has invited all its member federations to register for the Men's EHF EURO 2018.
The final tournament will be played with 16 teams overall, hence there are a up to 15 places available to be played for in the qualification.
The Men's EHF EURO 2018 Qualification will be played in two phases. All teams apart from the organiser have to participate either in Qualification Phase 1 and/or Qualification Phase 2.
The draw for Qualification Phase 1 is scheduled to take place at the EHF Office in Vienna on 22 July 2014. More details regarding the draw will follow as soon as they are available.
The teams will be seeded based on the current EHF National Team Ranking.
Phase 1 of the Men's EHF EURO 2018 Qualification will be played in three periods of two matches each (this equals six qualification rounds), as the playing schedule is based on groups of four teams.
Similar to the qualification for the Men's EHF EURO 2016 an intermediate phase will be played - this time between the best ranked teams from Qualification Phase 1 for the Men's EHF EURO 2018 and the lowest ranked teams from the Qualification Phase 2 for the Men's EHF EURO 2016.
The playing system will be decided after the registration for 2018 when the participating teams are known.
Phase 2 will be played in three periods of two matches each (this equals six qualification rounds) as the playing schedule is based on seven groups of four teams.
Rounds 1 and 2 will be played at the end of October 2016, Rounds 3 and 4 in April 2017 and Rounds 5 and 6 in June 2017.
