Leipzig and Kragujevac to host qualification tournaments

The road to the second edition of the Women’s EHF FINAL4 tournament will start in Leizig, Germany and Kragujevac, Serbia after the European Handball Federation has confirmed both venues for the two qualification tournaments.

The semi-final matches in both groups are scheduled for Saturday, 20 September 2014, the third place matches and the finals following on Sunday, 21 September. The exact playing times will be confirmed by the EHF/EHF Marketing in due time.

HC Leipzig will play hosts to the Group 1 tournament in the Messe Leipzig with a capacity of 3,984 spectators. The hosts will face BNTU BelAz Minsk from Belarus in the semi-final, while FTC Rail Cargo Hungaria will take on SERCODAK Dalfsen from the Netherlands.

The winner of this group will qualify for the group matches and will play in Group A together with RK Krim Mercator from Slovenia, Dinamo-Sinara from Russia and Hypo Niederösterreich from Austria.

The Group 2 qualification tournament will be played in the Sport Centar Mladost Jezero in Kragujevac (3,500 seats) as the home team WHC Radnicki will encounter the 2014 MVM EHF FINAL4 participants FC Midtjylland from Denmark in the semi-final, while Norway’s Byasen Trondheim will meet HC Podravka Vegeta from Croatia.

In the group matches, last season’s runners-up Buducnost from Montenegro, Germany’s Thüringer HC and WHC Vardar SCBT from FYR Macedonia await the best team of the tournament in Kragujevac.
