NEWS REPORT: Tunisian left back joins the record winners of the EHF Champions League with immediate effect
Jallouz packs for Barcelona
The EHF Champions League record winners FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with THW Kiel over the signing of Wael Jallouz. The 23-year-old Tunisian left back joined the Catalan club on Thursday with immediate effect.
"After Barcelona had approached us with their request for Wael, we have sit together to determine what would be the best for his future,” said THW coach Alfred Gislason for Kiel’s official website.
"Wael has to play a lot to continue in his tactical development. Barca can grant him the playing time, while I cannot guarantee the same for him in the Bundesliga. Therefore we agreed that the transfer will be the best thing for his further development,” Gislason explained.
Jallouz joined the reigning German champions before the previous season. In the 2013/14 VELUX EHF Champions League he played all 16 games and scored 34 goals. He became the first player from the African continent to play and score at the VELUX EHF FINAL4.
He follows the path of the Icelandic left winger Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson, who also joined Barcelona from THW after the last season.
