Romania and Germany reach Women's Youth World Championship Final

The Women's Youth World Championship 2014 in FYR Macedonia sees a final that not many experts would have predicted before.

Following the semi-finals on Friday Romania and Germany are the two teams to fight for gold in the city of Ohrid on Sunday.

The first team to qualify was Romania who beat Montenegro 28:25.

Despite an early 5:1 lead for Romania, Montenegro went into the dressing rooms, leading 13:12 at half-time. The match then continued on eye level until the score stood at 24:24 with five minutes left to play.

But Montenegro had run out of steam and while they only scored once more, Romania netted three times and eventually celebrated the victory.

In the second semi-final Germany outclassed Denmark, the bronze medallists at the Women's 17 EHF EURO 2013, 26:24.

After 30 minutes of play the score had stood at 10:10, but Germany came out of the dressing rooms as if they were on fire.

Between the 36th and the 39th minute they scored four straight goals which gave them a 15:11 lead and at the same time they dealt a blow to Denmark from which the team never recovered.

Denmark got within three goals (20:23) when there were still six minutes left to play, but Germany, who play the final at Women's Youth World Championships for the first time, were too strong and played too smart on this night.

The final throws off at 17:00 hrs local time on Sunday, 3 August. The match for third place between Montenegro and Denmark starts at 14:30 hrs.

Both matches are streamed live.
