Become an EHF Young Reporter at the Women’s EHF EURO 2014

The successful EHF Young Reporters programme goes into into its third round.

Following the Men’s EHF EURO 2014 in Denmark and the MVM EHF FINAL4 in Budapest, the EHF Media and Communications Department is again looking for young reporters to join its media team at another big handball event.

This time there is a chance to work alongside the EHF Media Team at the Women’s EHF EURO 2014 in Hungary and Croatia which takes place from 7 to 21 December 2014.

This is your unique chance to gain first-hand experience at a major sport event and one of the world’s biggest handball tournaments.

You’ll be working alongside the EHF Media Team with mentoring from seasoned sports journalists and among hundreds of media people covering the event.

Your work will be published on the official website, giving you a fantastic reference for your future career.

The programme's main facts:

  • The EHF Young Reporters team will consist of eight journalists with pairs of two being assigned to each of the competition venues.
  • A workshop with all selected candidates will be held in Györ, Hungary from 28 to 30 November 2014. Exact date and location of the workshop are subject to change. All selected candidates are required to participate. Travel to and from as well as accommodation at the workshop will be provided by the EHF.
  • The young reporters will work alongside the EHF Media Team and the EHF Journalists at the respective venues. They will interview players, cover press conferences and have the opportunity to research and come up with their own stories.
  • A large focus will be on digital reporting, multimedia storytelling and social media. Applicants who have proven experience in these fields will be given preference. The EHF is also looking for candidates with a background in radio reporting to produce audio reports from the championship.
  • The working and writing language will be English. Candidates are hence required to have at least a proficient level of written as well as spoken English. The ability to speak one or more of the participating nations’ languages will be considered an asset.
  • Candidates will be between 20 and 27 and will already have experience working in the media. Each candidate must submit a CV and a short motivational essay in English (approx. 500 words). Strong supporting references and evidence of published work will be an advantage.
  • Applications have to be submitted by email to the EHF Media and Communications Department which is solely responsible for choosing the candidates
  • The EHF will provide the selected candidates with transport, accommodation and media accreditation for the duration of their work of their work at the Women’s EHF EURO 2014. They will receive meals while working and will be supplied with event clothing. No further expenses can be covered by the EHF.
