One half enough for Byasen

One half enough for Byasen

One half was basically what Byasen Trondheim needed in the double header away against WHC Danilovgrad in order to proceed to the next round of the Women’s Cup Winners’ Cup.

At half-time of the first match in Montenegro Friday afternoon, Byasen were already leading 16:9, and in the second half the Norwegian visitors extended that lead by a further 11 goala, ending with a 34:16 win.

With this clear lead, Byasen had an obvious advantage before the second leg in Police Academy Sport Hall in Danilovgrad.

The home team managed to reduce a bit of the gap from the first match, leading 14:12 at half-time, but in the second half Byasen managed to equalise and get a 27:27 draw which was obviously more than enough for the overall win.

Byasen’s next opponent is already known and will be Mecalia Atletico Guardes from Spain.

Apart from the doubleheader in Montenegro, there was only one match in the competition this weekend.

BNTU-BelAz Mins Reg. had a clear advantage when visiting ACME-Zalgiris, as the Belarusian team had won the first leg at home 32:20.

Zalgiris were nowhere near at catching up with that 12-goal deficit in the second match Saturday on home ground in Kaunas.

The Lithuanian hosts were leading 13:11 at half-time, but after winning the second half by seven goals, Minsk took the win in the second leg, 28:23 this time.

Germany’s HSG Blomberg-Lippe will be waiting for Minsk in the third round in November.
