This season requires extra energy from all of us
Hi everybody, did you miss me?
It's nice to be back with my very own blog!
After a nice summer break, when I finally had the chance to go home and hug my parents, we have been quite busy in Győr. As most of you know we have lost two of our best players, or should I say, two of the world's best players for this season, but strange as it may sound we are all very happy that Katrine (Lunde) and Anita (Görbicz) are expecting babies.
I have always wanted a big family. Actually huge is a better word as I want minimum three children but only when the time comes.
A lot of people have asked me "Are you the next?", but I can only say I am very happy for my teammates but I don't plan to have children just yet.
Handball comes first
This season will require extra energy from all of us at Győr. I have heard some experts and pundits don't consider us to be the favourites to win the Women's EHF Champions League but that's OK with me. Sport is beautiful because you can never predict anything, sometimes the best team wins, sometimes it doesn't.
I have nothing but respect for such great teams as Buducnost and Vardar or Larvik, who have also had some very nice matches so far this year but we don't fear any of our opponents.
We are aware that we have had some bad periods in some games but it is only normal that we are still shaping. There are a lot of new players in our team and we have to work hard to form a team that can continue to win on all stages.
I believe we can match the excellence we have shown recently as we have a great coach, a lot of talent, and enormous amount of fighting will. After all we are still unbeaten and already booked our place in the second round, right?
Holidays are coming
You might think that the forthcoming EHF EURO is like a vacation for a Brazilian but it is only partly true. When preparations begin I will join the Brazilian squad and play a couple of games with the World Champions and only after that I can have a week long holiday. Words cannot express how much I long to see my family and I am very happy to have a chance to go home and see my friends and relatives in Brazil.
I will be back to see the last phase of the EURO, I am going to watch the medal games in Budapest. Yes, that means I cannot go home for Christmas but you know, that is the price you have to pay when you are a professional athlete.
Semi-professional tourguide
Győr is not only a very nice town but its location is perfect. Imagine that three capitals are in easy reach: Budapest, Vienna and Bratislava are all a short car ride away and we are trying to make the best out of it.
When my friends or family come to visit we usually travel together and show them around a little. I have been trying to explore the neighbourhood as much as I can since I moved to Hungary and although I have been to many places there are a lot of other nice spots I want to visit.
That's all now, friends, hope to have you back when my next blog post goes online!
Lots of love,
Duda Amorim
