Four teams through to the Last 16

Four teams are already through to the Last 16 of the Women's Cup Winners' Cup after this past weekend, where the four doubleheaders ended in more or less clear results.

HCM Roman and Skuru IK drew 30:30 in the first leg in the Sala Sporturilor Roman Saturday, but on Sunday, the Romanian hosts decided the matter with a 24:19 win in the same arena.

“They had decided to shoot some more from the distance in the second match than in the first. We did not have that included in our tactics from the start,” admitted Skuru coach Patrik Sparvén to the Swedish Handball Federation's official website.

In the Netherlands, LK Zug Handball also managed to play an equal first match against SERCODAK Dalfsen, who won narrowly 35:34, but in the second match Sunday, they Dutch hosts did not leave their Swiss opponents any chance, winning as clearly as 32:17.

Zvezda Zvenigorod did not seem to mind playing away in Poland against Vistal Gdynia. In the first match Saturday, the Women's EHF Champions League winners from 2008 made it all clear with a 32:20 win, and after that, the Russian top team could live with the 27:24 defeat the following day.

In Orleans, the home town of Jeanne d'Arc, Fleury Loiret Handball were completely dominant against ZRK Umag from Croatia who were defeated 39:15 in the first leg Saturday.

Sunday, then, with everything already decided, Fleury took things just a little easier in Saran, where the French win was 34:20 this time.

Jane Schumacher is among the candidates for the last position in Denmark's squad for the EHF EURO 2014 and on Sunday afternoon, the 26-year-old versatile back court player from Randers HK did her best to convince national coach Jan Pytlick that he should pick her for the championship.

She scored eight times as Randers won the first leg of the entirely Danish encounter against HC Odense 30:26 at home in the Arena Randers.
The relatively narrow defeat obviously still allows Odense to hope ahead of the return match on Saturday.
