Last 16 draw puts FTC together with Tertnes

Five national champions and two recent winners of the Cup Winners' Cup have learnt their fate in this season's Last 16 as the draw determined all eight pairings of the next stage on Tuesday. The draw was carried out by EHF Secretary General Michael Wiederer at the EHF Office in Vienna.

The first leg matches are scheduled for 7/8 February, the second leg follows one week later.

The Hungarian runners-up FTC Rail Cargo Hungaria, who just narrowly missed the Women's EHF Champions League earlier this season, will continue their quest to win the third Cup Winners' Cup trophy in five years and their next hurdle is a Norwegian Tertnes Bergen.

Another Norway's team Byasen Trondheim are set to make the second trip to Kragujevac, Serbia within five months as they already played the EHF Champions League qualification tournament there, although they avoided a match against the tournament's hosts and Serbian champions WHC Radnicki.

Four bottom teams from the European top flight has joined the Cup Winners' Cup following the group matches conclusion. The Croatian champions HC Lokomotiva Zagreb will play for their survival against Germany's HSG Blomberg-Lippe, while the runners-up from Croatia HC Podravka Vegeta have no easier task in meeting Zvezda Zvenigorod from Russia.

Also ambitions of MKS Selgros Lublin, who lost the Main Round chance only in the last round, will be put under a stern test by a Danish outfit Randers HK, while the rejuvenated team of the Champions League record winners Hypo Niederösterreich will face a much more acceptable opponent in Siofok KC at the Lake of Balaton.

After an impressive Round 3 performance against Kuban Krasnodar, the last season's Women's EHF FINAL4 participants FC Midtjylland take on HCM Roman from Romania, while Dutch champions SERCODAK Dalfsen meet Fleury Loiret Handball.
