Court of Handball suspends and fines Vilovski

The EHF Court of Handball has released a decision following disciplinary proceedings against the player Uros Vilovski of Balatonfüredi KSE.

The player was directly disqualified for having kneed an opponent in the back at the 58”34 minute of the 2014/2015 EHF Men’s Cup Qualification Round 3 match (1st leg): Alpla HC Hard (AUT) vs. Balatonfüredi KSE (HUN) which took place in Hard, Austria on 22 November 2014. Uros Vilovski, after having scored a goal while being fouled, got up and kneed the opponent who was still lying on the floor in the back.

The EHF Court of Handball finds in substance that such a foul meets the characteristics of a severe unsportsmanlike conduct deserving further sanction. The reaction, not related to the normal course of the match, is considered as reckless, intentional and likely to seriously endanger the physical integrity of an opponent. Furthermore, the Court underlines that any kind of self-justice behaviour cannot be tolerated on the playing court.

Hence, Uros Vilovski is suspended from the participation in the EHF club competitions for three matches and shall pay a fine of €2,000 (two thousand Euros). One of those matches is imposed on a suspended basis with a probation period of one year starting from the date of the present decision.

The player Uros Vilovski is therefore not entitled to participate in the next 2014/15 Men’s EHF Cup Qualification Round 3 match (2nd leg): Balatonfüredi KSE vs. Alpla HC Hard taking place on 29 November 2014.

An appeal against the present decision shall not have any suspensive effects.
