NEWS REPORT: The record winners clinch the ticket to Budapest and also a Group I first place.
Norway in the semi-final, Hungary out
Norway are the first team to reach the semi-finals at the EHF EURO 2014. After their 26:24 win against Poland in Debrecen's Fönix Hall on Monday, the Norwegians' tickets to Budapest have been booked.
Norway have not lost an international match against Poland for nearly 18 years, but they were certainly on their way to do so in the first half, as they were five goals down against a Polish team that fired on all cylinders.
However, courtesy of 11 goals from right back Nora Mörk and a more focused effort in the second half, Norway turned the match in their favour to eventually record a narrow win.
Denmark kept their hopes of reaching the semi-finals in Budapest alive, winning 23:20 against Hungary and ending any chance the co-hosts have of making it to the semi-finals themselves.
A close match dominated by spectacular goalkeepers ended in a 22:20 Romanian win against Spain, beginning the second round of Group I matches in the Fönix Hall.
With Spain still on four points, this means that they will play a direct match for the second semi-final ticket against Denmark on Wednesday.
