NEWS REPORT: Romanian champions find the man to take on tough Women’s EHF Champions League challenge
Tiselj the new face at Baia Mare
Tone Tiselj is HCM Baia Mare’s new coach, after the team’s management recently ended its collaboration with Costică Buceschi.
Tiselj won two Women’s EHF Champions League’s trophies with RK Krim Ljubljana.
An underwhelming Group D campaign saw HCM Baia Mare’s decision makers enforce dramatic measures.
Therefore, coach Costică Buceschi has been relieved of his duties, while his replacement has been announced as Tone Tiselj, the Slovenian who twice won the Europe’s top flight with RK Krim Ljubljana in 2001 and 2003.
“HCM Baia Mare would like to thank former coach Costică Buceschi for his efforts to bring the team its first important trophies and the qualification to the Women’s EHF Champions League. However, Tone Tiselj will be our team’s coach for the next two and a half years,” said the Romanian champion’s statement.
53-year-old coach Tiselj, who managed powerhouses like RK Krim Ljubljana and Buducnost, as well as the Montenegrin women’s national team, will have his work cut out at Baia Mare, who sit bottom of their main round group, with zero points. The Romanian champions will meet IK Savehof, Gyori Audi ETO KC and Viborg HK A/S.
“Baia Mare has a great project in the works and I accepted the offer because it is a great challenge for me. My biggest objective right now is to create a team from these great players,” said Tiselj.
“I chose Baia Mare because it represents the biggest challenge in my life and I love to see my limits. We are starting from scratch in our group, but everything is possible, the results are important, but the most important is to create a team,” concluded Tiselj.
