Exciting encounters to be expected as two former champions collide

Womens's EHF Champions League winners from 1996, HC Podravka Vegeta are taking on the winners from 2008, Zvezda Zvenigorod, when the Russian top team are visiting Croatia for a double header in the last 16 of the Cup Winners' Cup this weekend.

Friday evening the first leg throws-off in the Sport Hall Fran Galovic in Koprivnica, the return match being played Sunday evening.

Another double header will be seen in Budapest, where FTC-Rail Cargo Hungaria receive Norwegian Tertnes Bergen who will be seeking revenge for two defeats (40:30 and 33:27) in the last 16 of the tournament last season. This time the first match will be on Saturday evening, the second leg on Sunday night.

Last season, FC Midtjylland made it to the first ever edition of the Women's EHF FINAL4. This year, the Danish team did not manage to qualify for the Champions League group stage. Instead, they are now seeking their success in the Cup Winners' Cup which they last won in 2004.

FCM had a really easy entry in the tournament, sending Russian Kuban out with two clear wins. In this round, the menu is Romanian for FCM, who also won the EHF Cup in 2002 and 2011. HCM Roman will be receiving the Danish team for the first leg Saturday morning with the return match being in Ikast next Sunday.

EHF Cup winners from 2010, Randers HK are taking on MKS Selgros Lublin who did not make it to the main round of the Women's EHF Champions League this season. The Danish team have the home advantage in the first leg Sunday afternoon in the Arena Randers, while the return match in Poland is being played next Sunday.

One of the eight ties will take place as a double header next weekend, when HC Lokomotiva Zagreb and German HSG Blomberg-Lippe meet with the Croatian team being on home ground for both matches.
