ROUND REVIEW: Both French teams in the Women's Challenge Cup are very close to the semi-finals after convincing away wins.
French teams very close to semi-finals
France is very likely to be represented by two teams in the semi-finals of the Women's Challenge Cup. That is the situation after both the country's representatives in the tournament won their away matches in the quarter-finals clearly this weekend.
Only two of the four quarter-final ties launched this weekend, and in Ostrava in the Czech Republic. Union Mios Biganos-Begles won as cleary as 31:24 against DHC Sokol Poruba.
The French visitors were leading 16:13 at half-time, but more than doubled their lead during the second half, and Biganos-Begles therefore appear as clear favourites for the semi-final ticket, before they take on Poruba on home court next weekend.

The other French team in the competition, HAC Handball seem even closer to the semis after defeating WHC Knjaz Milos Arandjelovac 33:25, also on away court.
1,500 spectators in the SRC “Sumakija” in Arandjelovac could not save their team from being down by eight goals already at half-time, as HAC were leading 20:12. Eight goals was also the distance at the end, and HAC seem to be an obvious candidate for the semi-final.
Like the second leg of the two ties who opened this weekend, the remaining two quarter-final ties are also going to be decided next weekend, both as double-headers.
