German Bundesliga live on ehfTV.com

The European Handball Federation’s online TV platform ehfTV.com is about to get a whole lot more exciting for handball fans worldwide.

Already well-known for its extensive coverage of Europe’s top club competitions, including the VELUX EHF Champions League, the streaming platform is now planning to bring Europe’s top domestic leagues to international audiences for the first time.

An agreement has been reached with the German DKB Handball Bundesliga to show a selection of some of the league’s top matches live and on-demand on ehfTV.com. 

The first match to be shown on ehfTV.com will see top of the table THW Kiel take on seventh-placed Füchse Berlin, two sides well-known to regular viewers on the ehfTV.com channel thanks to the teams’ regular participation in European competition.

The match will be available to watch live on ehfTV.com from 19:00 hrs (CET) on 12 March 2015. More top live matches will follow as the chase to knock THW Kiel off the top spot continues in Germany.

Commenting on the new initiative, Peter Vargo, Managing Director of EHF Marketing GmbH, said: “Bringing Europe’s top international leagues to ehfTV.com is a huge development; for the very first time handball fans worldwide will be able to follow the continent’s best teams not just in the VELUX EHF Champions League but also as they play for their national titles.”

Managing Director of the DKB Handball Bundesliga, Frank Bohman, said: “Whilst German audiences are used to following coverage of the DKB Handball Bundesliga on TV, the addition of coverage on ehfTV.com will enable us to bring the competition to a much bigger international audience, helping us to extend our fan base and enable more people to discover for themselves just  why the Bundesliga is the strongest league in the world.”

The agreement with the DKB Handball Bundesliga is just the start for the expansion plans for Europe’s top handball streaming platform. More competitions are to follow, with negotiations well advanced to show matches from other top leagues. 

ehfTV.com coverage of the DKB Handball Bundesliga will be geoblocked in Germany and will be unavailable in selected markets due to existing rights agreements.
