MATCH REVIEW: HSV Hamburg win 30:28 against Pfadi Winterthur in last group match
Hamburg finish group phase with narrow win
Nothing was at stake for any of the teams in the opening game of the last round in the Men's EHF Cup Group Phase, as Group A winners HSV Hamburg won by three goals at home against Pfadi Winterthur who were the better team in the first half, though.
While Hamburg will await their quarter-final opponent at the Tuesday's draw in Vienna, the European campaign of the Swiss club has concluded.
GROUP A
HSV Hamburg (GER) vs Pfadi Winterthur (SUI) 30:28 (12:13)
There was nothing at stake, as Hamburg and Winterthur met in the Sporthalle Hamburg in this early last match day game on Wednesday night.
In the first half, the Swiss visitors seemed to be most interested in finishing the group phase with a win, as they were leading with between one and three goals throughout the first 30 minutes against the Bundesliga team who were already sure to win the group.
However, after a one-goal lead for Winterthur at half-time, Hamburg increased the pace in the second half, and it did not take the home team too long to take the lead. HSV did not give it away in the rest of the match, even though Winterthur followed them closely.
