Kristianstad hosts Women's EHF EURO 2016 Qualification draw on 9 April
The draw for the qualification to the Women's EHF EURO 2016 will take place on 9 April at 14:30 hrs at the Kristianstad City Hall in Sweden.
Kristianstad is commonly regarded as the Mecca of handball in Sweden. The city has one team in the Swedish top league for both men and women.
The draw will be streamed live on the official website, www.ehf-euro.com. There will also be extensive coverage on the EHF EURO's Twitter channel and its Facebook page.
Including hosts Sweden 33 teams have registered for the final tournament. Six teams in two groups of three each - Azerbaijan, Bulgaria and Faroe Islands in Group A; Finland, Israel and Kosovo in Group B - will play the first qualification phase in June.
15 open spots
The two group winners from these six will join the 26 teams that are already qualified for the next qualification and which will get to know their opponents at the draw in Kristianstad (draw procedure).
The following teams are already seeded for this phase:
Pot 1: Norway, Montenegro, Denmark, Hungary, Serbia, France, Spain
Pot 2: Germany, Romania, Poland, Russia, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Croatia
Pot 3: Slovakia, Ukraine, Iceland, FYR Macedonia, Turkey, Belarus, Austria
Pot 4: Slovenia, Portugal, Switzerland, Italy, Lithuania, Winner Phase 1 Group A, Winner Phase 1 Group A
This second qualification phase will be played in three periods of two matches each in October 2015, March 2016 and June 2016.
The top two teams of each group as well as the best third ranked team from all groups qualify for the Women’s EHF EURO 2016 in Sweden
