Györ ready to fight until the last drop of sweat
The defending champions are in trouble as Györ look to overturn a six-goal deficit against Vardar, otherwise the MVM EHF FINAL4 will be held without a Hungarian team in Budapest. Players and staff are determined to do the job, but everybody knows they have a mountain to climb.

Györ have been struggling to make up for a flock of sidelined stars, which left its mark on the defending champions’ performance, especially in attack.
“It would be unfair to pass a comment on our players before the most important match of the season. We played badly in Skopje but I have absolutely no doubt that we have what it takes to reach the FINAL4,” Ernő Kelecsényi, president of Györi Audi ETO, told ehfCL.com.
The president thinks the most important reason for the heavy defeat was the intolerable amount of turnovers and missed penalties. “We missed five penalties and gave away the ball too many times. It is not like us to make so many technical mistakes and I am confident we will be better prepared mentally.”
Professional fighters
Kari Alvik Grimsbö is not surprised that the team’s mood is excellent before the crucial clash. “We are all professionals but big fighters, too. Nobody thinks we have no chance and we are all ready to give our all and fight until the last drop of sweat.”
The Norwegian goalkeeper agrees with the president, who called on all supporters to create an intimidating atmosphere in the new Audi Arena. “I am sure the sold-out crowd will put pressure on Vardar and lift us,” claimed Grimsbö.
The Viking Warrior
Heidi Löke issued a statement on the club’s official website and called all supporters to do what the players do: dig deep and give everything they have.
“I promise to fight as hard as I can and expect the Győr faithful to do the same in the stands. I will be like a Viking warrior but when I look into my teammates’ eyes I see the same determination.”
Eduarda Amorim is also back in town. However, the Brazilian superstar will only take the stand sin Györ after her serious injury that took her out of action for the rest of the season.
“Vardar had an excellent game in Skopje while Györ were far from their best. We have already been to situations like this but real champions never give up and I believe Györ won two Champions League trophies for a reason,” claimed Amorim, who is recovering from knee surgery.
