Detono Zagreb have done it again

The former champions are the new champions at the men's ebt Finals with Croatian side Detono Zagreb topping the podium for the second year in a row and the sixth time overall following a 2:0 (20:19, 17:14) win against Dinamit BHC in Budaörs on Sunday.

In the women's event the championship plate went to Hungarian side Agenta Girls who beat Paksoft Camelot from Netherlands 2:0 (22:18, 18:15) in the final.

Bronze in the men's was won by BHC SKKM-EKATERINODAR from Russia who beat Club Balonmano Playa Algeciras 2:0. In the women's event BHT Piotrkowianin Juko Piotrków Trybunalski from Poland snatched bronze with a 2:0 win against Detono Zagreb's women's team.

In the men's event the 'clash of clashes' already came in the semi-finals when defending champions Detono Zagreb faced previously unbeaten BHC SKKM-EKATERINODAR.

The first set was won 15:14 by the Russian side before Zagreb turned the odds in their favour to win the second set 20:11.

In the subsequent shoot-out both teams failed to score once, but while all of Zagreb's remaining four attempts were worth two points, Igor Neklyudow's attempt for EKATERINODAR was only worth one point, which meant that Zagred had carved out an unassailable 8:5 lead after five shots.

In the women's event, Agenta Girls repeated their outstanding form they showed on Friday and Saturday also on Sunday.

After having won all four group matches, they beat BHT Piotrkowianin Juko Piotrków Trybunalski 2:0 in the semi-final, before they got rid off Paksoft Camelot in similar fashion, which meant they topped the podium without having lost a single set.

All-star teams named

EKATERINODAR's Roman Kalashnikov was the player of the men's tournament as he took the top scorer award with 73 points and was also named the event's MVP.

The best line player, Luka Basek, played for BHC Cakovec, while the award for the best specialist went to Matej Sosic from Detono Zagreb, whose entire team also won the Fair play award.

In the women's event Eefke ter Sluis from Paksoft Camelot became the top scorer with 63 points, and she was also named best line player.
