Twelve hours of VELUX EHF FINAL4 coverage live on SKY
For the first time German TV station SKY Sports will cover the VELUX EHF FINAL4 after starting their handball coverage with the 2014/15 VELUX EHF Champions League season. In total 60 people is responsible for the TV production, and as usually SKY also can count on highest ranked experts, present at the LANXESS arena in Cologne.
One of them is Martin Schwalb, 2013 coach of the VELUX EHF FINAL4 winner HSV Hamburg, another one is Heiner Brand, World Champion as player (1978) and coach (2007). In addition World Champion Henning Fritz and former German international Frank von Behren belong to this team of experts.
Each on Saturday and Sunday SKY will broadcast six hours live from the VELUX EHF FINAL4, starting at 14:00 on both days and flanked by constant broadcast on their news channel SKY News HD.
“I expect four sensational matches”, says Schwalb, adding: “When you have experienced this event once, you always feel this huge anticipation.” He has highest respect for all four participants: “It is manageable to make it to Cologne, but everything needs to fit perfectly, if you want to win the FIINAL4.”
So far, SKY has covered all 36 matches of the German teams Kiel, Flensburg and Rhein Neckar Löwen this season. “We started from zero, but we have set some standards in our coverage already now,” Schwalb is sure: “We received great feedback for our broadcast, even from viewers, who had not watched handball before.”
SKY is the rights holder for VELUX EHF Champions League for the German and Austrian market until 2017.
