Estonia on the edge to qualify for intermediate play-offs

On paper Estonia are well positioned to move to the next phase of the EHF EURO 2018 Qualification when they meet Luxembourg in Group B on Saturday in Viljandi.

Following their 31:26 away win at Luxembourg on Wednesday, Estonia just need a draw to advance to the play-offs at the beginning of April 2016 in which they would face one of the three lowest ranked teams from the current EHF EURO 2016 Qualification.

Luxembourg, on the other side, are in need to bounce back big time as only a win with two goals or more would see them advance.

Estonia played a good first-leg game at Luxembourg, and head coach Rein Suvi assures that his team will not rest on its laurels.

"We are playing to win on home court," he says, as he can count again on his German Bundesliga stars Mait Patrail and Dener Jaanimaa, who with a combined tally of eight goals were one of the key factors to success on Wednesday.

The winners of Group A and C in this phase of the EHF EURO 2018 Qualification as well as the three lowest ranked teams of the EHF EURO 2016 Qualification will be known by Sunday when both campaigns draw to a close.

The play-offs pairings on the road to the EHF EURO 2018 will be drawn on 23 June in Vienna.
