Qualification draw puts Györ vs Kragujevac and Esbjerg vs Ankara

The two-time EHF Champions League winners Györi Audi ETO KC will face a formidable challenge early in the new season after the draw in the Vienna city centre has determined both qualification tournaments of the Women's EHF Champions League 2015/16.

Michael Wiederer, EHF Secretary General conducted the draw together with Majda Mehmedovic, left wing of Buducnost, the reigning trophy holders of the European top flight.

The 2013 and 2014 winners will meet Serbian champions WHC Radnicki Kragujevac in Group semi-final, while SERCODAK Dalfsen from the Netherlands will lock horns with Norway's Glassverket.

The other top seed club, the Danish runners-up Team Esbjerg landed in Group 2 together with the Turkish newcomers from Ankara Yenimahalle, while the other group's favourite HCM Baia Mare will take on BelAZ BNTU Minsk f rom Belarus in the other semi-final.

The draw also defined the hosting rights order as Glassverket and Baia Mare have been awarded the first right to host the tournaments.

"We could hardly be happier. We avoided Györ in the group and we also gained the right to organise the tournament. Esbjerg will be a tough opponent, but we have a good experience with Danish teams in our hall following the last two seasons," Baia Mare's representative Liviu Bala said.

Ernö Kelecsenyi, the Györ's president commented the draw: "Both groups are the same in terms of strength. There is no difference between the two. We are confident we can make it to the group matches."

Only the winners of each group will qualify for the group matches of the new season. The tournaments will be played in a knouck-out format with semi-finals scheduled for 12 September and the finals for Sunday 13 September.
