Danish change at CSM Bucuresti

A national title and only three defeats – all of them against rivals HCM Baia Mare – in 40 matches over the last 17 months was not enough for Mette Klit.

The former Danish player and Viborg assistant is no longer CSM Bucuresti’s coach, after she left by mutual agreement with the board.

Klit, 43, who lost the first official game of the season, the Supercup against Baia Mare, was replaced on Monday by another Danish coach, Kim Rasmussen, who will remain as the Polish women’s national team coach.

The news broke only one day before Rasmussen turned 43 and the Danish coach will most likely make his debut the next Monday, when CSM will play against ASC Corona Brasov in the Romanian League.

Rasmussen, was seen as the perfect replacement for Klit by the Bucharest management, and who was also a target for the other Romanian teams playing in the Women’s EHF Champions League, HCM Baia Mare, but the negotiations fell through this summer.

"I am glad and honoured to be here. I will also continue to manage the Polish national team, even if this means I will have sleepless nights," said Rasmussen.

"It is my debut in such an important competition, I have never coached in the Champions League, but I am confident that my international experience will be of help.

"I had to make a thorough analysis of all the different handball teams I faced and I am not afraid of this challenge."

"We will play our first game against MKS Selgros Lublin and that will be a huge advantage for us, as I know them well," added Rasmussen.
