GROUP D MATCH REVIEW: Dominating role for Kadetten's Hungarian playmaker, as the Swiss champions win for the first time

Csaszar scores 14 goals as Schaffhausen take first win

With 14 goals, Kadetten's 31-year-old-playmaker, Gabor Csaszar, displayed a dominating role as his team got their first win in their current VELUX EHF Champions League campaign, defeating Motor Zaporozhye 30:27 in the BBC Arena on Thursday night.

Kadetten Schaffhausen (SUI) vs HC Motor Zaporoszhye (UKR) 30:27 (15:8)

With no less than 14 goals, seven in each half, Gabor Csaszar could take more than his share of the credit for the fact that Kadetten Schaffhausen got their first win in their fourth attempt at the Champions League group phase.

Despite the pressure coming into this game, Csaszar knew how crucial the winning points would be for his team. "Before the match we knew we had to win. I'm very proud how well we played under this pressure and I'm also pleased with my personal perfomance."

However, it was not only the Hungarian playmaker's efforts in the attack which decided the match in the Swiss champions' favour.

Through a strong and concentrated effort in the defence, Kadetten almost completely controlled Sergii Burka, Barys Pukhouski and Aidenas Malasinskas - the three dominating Motor profiles from the Ukrainian champions' 31:26 win against Skjern on Sunday. The three top stars for Motor scored only 11 goals all together.

Coach Markus Baur praised his team's defence and the individual performace of his top players. "I'm happy! Motor Zaporozhye is a good team and therefore, they caused some problems for us at the start of the game, thanks to their three key players. We had an excellent defence and Gabor Csaszar played fantastically. In addition, Luka Maros played well too."

Apart from a score of 2:2 after five minutes, Kadetten were in the lead the entire match and benefited from a lack of Motor scoring for the last ten minutes of the first half to increase their lead from three to seven goals.

In the second half, Kadetten were leading by nine goals a couple of times, before the visitors narrowed the gap towards the end.

Right wing Artem Kozakevych was Motor's highest scoring player with six goals.

Kadetten now have three points after four matches, while Motor remain on four.
