Matches cancelled following terrorist attacks in Paris
The EHF has announced the cancellation of two matches in European Cup competitions in the wake of tragic events in the French capital over the weekend.
Following the incidents in Paris over the weekend and in close cooperation with clubs concerned and relevant authorities in France, the EHF has to announce the cancellation of the following European Cup matches:
Women’s EHF Champions League
15.11.2015 19:00
Fleury Loiret Handball (FRA) versus Thüringer HC (GER)
This match is to be rescheduled to a later date.
Women’s EHF Cup
14.11.2015 20:00 , ROUND 3
HBC Nimes (France) versus Hubo Initia Hasselt (BEL)
Both matches will now be played on weekend 21/22 November in Belgium
Moment of silence
The EHF has announced that all matches in European Cup competition played over the weekend involving French teams will be marked by a moment of silence ahead of the throw off.
Speaking at the EHF Conference of Presidents in Bucharest on 14 November 2015 (video) the EHF President, Jean Brihault, condemned the attacks in the French capital.
He said: “Our only way to deal with this kind of circumstance is to refuse to be terrorised and to promote understanding between people and groups.”
The delegates from 50 European nations held a moment of silence and Mr Brihault urged all those present to stand against terrorism and violence.
