Fleury vs Thüringer HC postponed to 6 January

The Round 5 match between Fleury Loiret Handball and Thüringer HC in the Women's EHF Champions League Group B will be played on Wednesday 6 January 2016, the European Handball Federation has released following the coordination with the clubs.

Due to the start of the women's national teams period it was not possible to schedule the match earlier.

A cancellation of the match was not considered as an option since there are two points at stake for the two teams to be taken along to the main round. They should therefore be decided by the players on the court and not by a legal decision especially considering the sad reasons for the situation.

The EHF was therefore forced to look into new possibilities and, after an evaluation of different alternatives and following an internal coordination the game between Fleury and Thüringer is postponed to the new playing date of 6 January 2016.

This date is a few days prior to the start of the main round and is the only useful possibility for the carrying out of the match. It assures that the ranking of the group matches will then be completed in time before the start of the main round.

The throw-off time for the game will be coordinated between all parties including the TV partners (via the EHFM).

Main Round schedule

The match schedule for the main round will be put together based on the ranking as it presents itself after the matches of Round 6 of the coming weekend and in accordance with the order of the matches as laid down in the Women’s EHF Champions League Regulations.

Of course, the match schedule will then remain unchanged regardless of the result of the game Fleury vs. Thüringer on 6 January.

Furthermore and as a consequence of the game on Wednesday, both involved clubs will be free from playing a main round match on Friday, 8 January 2016.

The match between Fleury Loiret Handball and Thüringer HC was not possible to carry out on Sunday 15 November 2015 as a consequence of the tragic incidents in Paris on Friday night.

This was due to the fact that all manifestations in Orléans on Saturday and Sunday were cancelled following a decision of the local authorities to close all event venues.
