NEWS REPORT: The Women's EHF Champions League Main Round will commence just two days after the last match of the Group Matches
Back in action on 6 January
The first stage of the Women's EHF Champions League is not completely over yet, but the dozen teams for the main round has been determined as were the four bottom teams of the group matches who will continue in the Cup Winners' Cup Last 16. What's next?
The terrorist attacks in Paris had an influence on the competition as the Round 5 game between Fleury and Thüringer HC in Group B could not be played.
Since it was not possible to find a new date before all players are leaving to the respective national teams, this game is now scheduled for Wednesday 6 January 2016 at 18:45 hrs local time, just a few days before the start of the main round.
Consequently the result of this game is now missing in the starting table of the main round Group 1 and the final ranking of Sunday night without this game has been used for the order of matches in the main round.
However, the match still has a big important for both teams as they will be playing for two points in the main round ranking as all teams in this phase are taking with them all results from matches against also qualified teams.
You can find the starting ranking for the Main Round Groups 1 and 2 as well as the order of the matches round by round here
There is a very early start for the main round right at the second weekend of January for the first time again after many years. This is a consequence of the additional national team week in March for the qualification tournaments to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
The throw-off times of main round matches will be released in due time.
Furthermore teams can make late entries of new players until Tuesday, 5 January 2016, but players who already participated in a match of the 2015/16 season (excluding qualification) are not eligible any longer.
