Melic on the move to Chambery

Despite extending his contract for two years back in March, Fahrudin Melic will leave VELUX EHF Champions League contenders Paris Saint-Germain Handball after three seasons with the club.

However, the Montenegrin right wing will remain in France having signed a three-year contract with Chambery Savoie Handball.

“I am very happy and satisfied because I'm going to a big and serious club with high ambitions. I am pleased to stay in France because me and my family feel good here. I will stay in Paris until June and continue to work and play with the same desire as before, because it’s at least what I can do for my teammates, the fans and all the people at the club who have treated me so well from the first day,” Fahrudin Melic told ehfCL.com.

In his first two VELUX EHF Champions League seasons with the club Melic scored 77 goals, but with the arrival of new coach Zvonimir Serdarusic this season, Melic has seen far less playing time.

“It’s true that this season I am playing less than before and that’s the main reason I decided to change club. Money is not everything for me, it’s very important for me that I can play. I don’t blame anybody for anything, on the contrary, I'm a professional and I accept well all the decisions of my coach,” Melic added.

C’est vrai qu’il n’est pas encore chambérien mais il le sera à partir de juillet 2016 et ce pour les 3 prochaines...

For Chambery Savoie Handball General Manager Laurent Munier, Melic is the perfect addition to enhance his team:

"He is one of the best wingers in the world, he’s also a very effective penalty taker. Melic is a solid player in defence, very fast in counter attacks, and a really hard worker."

Melić began his career in RK Bosna and also enjoyed spells at Zrinjski and Borac Banja Luka in Bosnia Herzegovina. He really caught the attention of the handball world in the jersey of Slovenian side Gorenje Velenje, scoring totally 93 goals in two international seasons, which lead to his transfer to PSG in 2013.

He played 97 times for Montenegro and expected to play a big part in their Men’s EHF EURO 2016 campaign next month in Poland.
