Norway beat Netherlands to win Women's World Championship 2015

Norway have won the Women's World Championship for the third time in history following a 31:23 against Netherlands in the final in Herning on Sunday.

Despite the loss it was also a historic achievement for Netherlands, as the team had never won any medal at a major women's handball championship before.

Also on Sunday Romania won bronze courtesy of a 31:22 win against Poland in the match for third place.

The match was literally decided already at the break when current EHF EURO and Olympic champions Norway led 20:9 against their Dutch opponents.

With ten minutes left on the clock, Netherlands had come within six goals of Norway, but they were never able to threaten the new world champions.

Some hours before the final Cristina Neagu, with another stellar performance, had led Romania to bronze against Poland.

The Buducnost back court scored 10 goals in the match for third place to bring her tournament tally up to 63 which eventually earned her the top scorer's crown.

At the break Poland led 15:8 and did not allow the lead to slip from their hands until the end.
