Away goals send Izmir to quarter-final

A 28:22 win at home turned out to be exactly not enough for DHC Sokol Poruba, when they visited Turkish Izmir for the second leg against Izmir BSB SK.

Izmir were also able to win the return game by six goals, but as the Turkish win was 23:17, Izmir proceed to the quarter-final due to having scored the most away goals.

The home team booked their quarter-final ticket through a great second half, as the half-time score was 10:10.

EKS Start Elblag also had a 28:22 lead with them to their away game, but for the Polish team, this lead was enough against ZRK Mlinotest Ajdovscina.

In fact, Elblag also won the return match in Slovenia, this time 26:22.

The difference was considerably more outspoken in two of the three double headers this weekend.

Despite playing away in both matches, ZRK IZVOR BUKOVICKA BANJA-Arandjelovac managed to take two clear wins against Schuler Afbouwgroep.

The Serbian visitors won the first match 33:27, and the following day, the Dutch hosts suffered an even bigger defeat, as they were defeated 27:18 this time.

HC Karpaty also booked two clear wins in Portugal against Colegia da Gaia.

The Ukrainian side won both matches by nine goals, 23:14 in the first match and 30:21 in the second.

The third double header was considerably more equal.

HC Vardar junior had the home advantage against Serbian ZRK Minaqua Vojvodina Novi Sad, and after a narrow 26:24 win in the first match, Vardar junior managed to clinch their quarter-final berth through a 31:27 win Sunday.
