Away goals send Paris to semi-final

Issy Paris Hand are in the semi-finals of the Women’s Cup Winners’ Cup due to the most away goals against ÈRD HC, while RK Krim Mercator had no problems in catching up with Viper Kristiansand’s two-goal lead, and Handball Club Lada took another big win against Zvezda Zvenigorod.

Issy Paris Hand are ready for the semi-final of the Women’s Cup Winners’ Cup, but only after another close match against ÉRD HC.

ÉRD had won the first match at home 29:28, and in the return match, it was Paris’ turn to win by one goal.

1,500 spectators in the Palais de Sport Robert Charpentier saw the home team win a low-scoring match 18:17, a result that means that the French side proceed to the semi-finals due to having scored most away goals.

Right back Oceane Sercien Ugolin scored eight goals for Issy Paris Hand, while right wing Katarina Slezak scored five for ÉRD.

Issy Paris Hand have to wait until Monday night to find out who their opponent in the semi-final will be.

All they know is that they will get Danish opposition, as they have been drawn against the winner of the Danish tie Team Tvis Holstebro vs Viborg HK.

Those two teams are meeting for the second leg in Viborg Monday evening, with Holstebro leading 25:14 after the first match.

The two remaining semi-finalists know their opponents very well already.

RK Krim Mercator and Handball Club Lada will meet each other in the semi-final.

Lada were virtually in the semi-final already before the second leg of their Russian tie against Zvezda Zvenigorod.

Lada had won the first match away as big as 43:30, and on home court in Togliatti - they had no problems either.

2,700 spectators in the Sportkomplex USK “Olimp” saw Lada win 33:21 this time around.

Playmaker Daria Dmitrieva scored six goals for Lada, right wing Mariia Dudina and left back Natalia Ivanova four each for Zvezda.

There was some doubt in the air ahead of Krim’s home game against Vipers.

The Slovenian champions had lost the first match in Norway 29:27, but at home in the Sportna dvorana Kodeljevo, they left Vipers with no chance.

Already at half-time Krim were leading 14:8, and at the final buzzer, the scoreboard read 30:20 for the home side, much to the satisfaction of the 1,800 spectators.

The two left backs, Macedonian Mirjeta Bajramoska and Marija Obradovic scored six goals each for Krim, while left wing Hanne Andve was Vipers’ top scorer with five goals.
