Summer continues with Women's Youth World Championship

Denmark have just celebrated their gold medal at the Women's Junior World Championship in Russia, while the next World Championship is already around the corner - and once more Denmark are among the hot medal contenders.

The Women's Youth World Championship 2016 is played in two venues in Slovakia's capital Bratislava from 19 to 31 July with 24 teams in four groups of six each. Europe is represented with 12 teams in total.

Denmark, who have been drawn to Group D alongside hosts Slovakia, Slovenia, Egypt, Argentina and Uzbekistan, enter the tournament as the gold medallists from the Women's 17 EHF EURO 2015 and the silver medallists from the Women's 18 European Open which took place at the beginning of July.

Another favourite to look at will be Russia, the team that lost only one by goal (26:25) against Denmark at the Women's 17 EHF EURO 2015. Russia were drawn to Group A alongside Croatia, Japan, Germany, Angola and Chile.

Hungary, the bronze medallists of the Women's 17 EHF EURO 2015, are in Group B. They will face Brazil, Sweden, the winners of the Women's 18 European Open, China, Spain and Congo.

Romania, France and Norway are the European teams in Group C. They face Korea, Kazakhstan and Paraguay.

The top four ranked teams of each group qualify for the Last 16, scheduled for 27 July. The quarter-finals take place on 28 July, the semi-finals on 30 July and the final on 31 July.
