NEWS REPORT: Austrian runners-up will host the VELUX EHF Champions League Qualification Tournament 2 after the EHF and EHF Marketing have confirmed another organiser.
Group 2 tournament to take place at Lake Constance
The first goals of the new VELUX EHF Champions League season will be scored in Presov and Bregenz. After Slovakian champions Tatran Presov have been confirmed as Group 1 organisers already earlier this month, the European Handball Federation in cooperation with its daughter company EHF Marketing have also granted a green light for Austrian runners-up Bregenz Handball.
Bregenz, who also hosted a tournament at their most recent participation in the VELUX EHF Champions League Qualification in 2010, were awarded the first right to organise the tournament by a draw on 29 June.
On 3 and 4 September in the Handballarena Rieden-Vorkloster, they will host ABC/UMinho, Achilles Bocholt and Maccabi CASTRO Tel Aviv.
Only the winner of the tournament will obtain the ticket for the group phase and qualify for Group D, where HBC Nantes, TTH Holstebro, HC Motor Zaporozhye, HC Motor Zaporozhye, Besiktas Mogaz HT and Dinamo Bucuresti await.
In the semi-finals Bregenz play against the Belgian champions Bocholt, while Portuguese title holders ABC face their counterparts from Israel.
The runners-up and the third team of this qualification group will carry on in the EHF Cup Round 3, while the bottom ranked team will start already in the second round facing the winner of the Round 1 match between Csurgói KK and Bodö HK.
Group 1 tournament will be hosted on same days by Slovakian champions Tatran Presov.
