Goals galore on first day of Men's 20 EHF EURO

Croatia put 38 past Hungary and three players scored 10 goals or more as the first day of the Men's 20 EHF EURO came to an end on Thursday night.

One of the most impressive performances was produced by Croatia who beat Hungary, the silver medallists of the Men's 18 EHF EURO 2014, 38:30. With his 11 goals, David Mandic was without doubt Croatia's 'man of the match'.

The win saw Croatia topping Group D ahead of Germany who beat Sweden 27:23. An exciting clash can be expected when the two victorious teams meet at 16:00 hrs local time on Friday.

Live streams for all matches are accessible via http://livestream.com/m20euro.

Denmark and France clear first hurdle

France, the winners of the Men's 18 EHF EURO 2014 and the Youth World Championship 2015, also put on a convincing show as they beat Serbia 33:22 in Group A with Etienne Mocquais scoring 10 times.

Switzerland's Lenny Rubin also netted 10 times, however this was not enough as his side went down 21:18 against Poland.

France meet Poland at 14:00 hrs on Friday; Serbia play Switzerland at 16:00 hrs. In all four groups the first two teams qualify for the main round.

Hosts Denmark made the first step towards the main round when they beat the Netherlands on the tournament's opening day 31:24 in Group C. It was an impressive team performance by the Danes with all but one field player putting their name on the score sheet.

Also one step closer to the main round are Norway who beat FYR Macedonia 27:24. With Norway meeting the Netherlands at 18:00 hrs and Denmark playing FYR Macedonia at 20:00 hrs, the main round participants from Group C can potentially already be decided on Friday.

Iceland, bronze medallists at the Youth World Championship 2015, and Spain were the victorious teams in Group B.

Led by rising star Omar Ingi Magnusson (eight goals), Iceland beat Russia 32:31, while Spain just edged past Slovenia, silver medallists at the Youth World Championship 2015, 21:20.

Just like in Group C, the main round participants can already be confirmed on Friday as Spain face Russia at 18:00 hrs and Slovenia play Iceland at 20:00 hrs.
