First round of meetings for new commissions in Vienna

Following new elections in St. Wolfgang in November 2017, the first scheduled meetings of the federation’s technical commissions were held in the EHF Office on 23/24 February.

Meetings were held of the Technical Delegation, Competitions Commission and Methods Commission. The Beach Handball Commission will meet later on 2/3 March also in Vienna.

Competitions Commission

Seven motions for changes to club competitions were agreed and will now be put forward to the EHF Executive Committee at its meeting in Vienna on 24 March,

A change to the playing dates of the W17 EHF Championship in FYR Macedonia was agreed (link) and reports on recent inspections in Slovenia and Slovakia, venues for the W19 EURO and W17 EURO respectively, were received.

The new IHF Rules of the Game were discussed with agreement that their implementation had been broadly successful.

The interpretation of equipment requirements and the experiences from the Women’s EHF EURO 2016 in Sweden were however highlighted as was the need for further clarification of the rules relating to the final 30 seconds of the game to ensure a common line.

Topics to be broached over the next four-year period include the use and handling of technology in game management, improvements to the EHF EURO qualification system and the greater use of e-learning.

Competitions Commission ( 2016-2020):

Chairman - Bozidar Djurkovic / SRB (new function)

The meeting focused on the next four-year period for the body.

The various co-operations with external partners including  German Sports University in Cologne , the University Las Palmas (academic certification of the EHF Master Coach) as well as with Goalcha will be further developed.

The recent Rinck Convention Seminar in Vienna was reviewed as were inputs from the national federations taking part. It was confirmed that a number of federations now plan to follow the EHF’s lead and organise their own youth coaches programmes. These will include mentoring and fast-tracking of former top players.

It was agreed that a Rinck Convention Panel would be created made up of experts to support non- signatories and the certification process would be created.

Preparations for the next EHF Scientific Conference in Vienna in November were discussed as were developments to the EHF Scientific Network and list of lecturers, which in the future will include a broader range of scientific disciplines.
