Melanie C to perform at VELUX EHF FINAL4 2017
The final tournament of Europe’s premium club handball competition, the VELUX EHF FINAL4 2017, will welcome yet another great pop star after EHF Marketing GmbH has revealed that Melanie C will take the stage at the event on the first weekend of June.
The English pop star and former member of legendary girl group Spice Girls, who is promoting her new album ‘Version of Me’, has decided to return to the LANXESS arena on 4 June, only one month after her tour will stop off in Cologne.
“We have always paid a lot of attention not only to the sporting level of our pinnacle event, but year after year we have added some spice to the entertainment as well. The VELUX EHF FINAL4 has built a reputation of an event not just of sporting excellence but also a great social occasion.
“We are excited there will be no exception this time around and we are proud to announce that Melanie C will join us in Cologne,” David Szlezak, EHF Marketing Managing Director commented.
“Without doubt her performance will be a highlight of this season,” he added.
Melanie C will sing two songs – one before the VELUX EHF Champions League final match and the other just before the awarding ceremony of the new champions.
“This May, I’ll be touring my new album 'Version of Me' across Germany. And you will also be able to see me perform a few songs from the album in Cologne, in June, at the biggest handball final in the world! I can’t wait for the VELUX EHF FINAL4!” says Melanie C.
New album
Melanie C released her stunning seventh album ‘Version Of Me’ on her own Red Girl Records label last October.
Since going solo back in 1999, she enjoyed two number 1 singles, six top 10 singles and over three million album sales. Following her first two Virgin albums, 1999’s ‘Northern Star’ and 2003’s ‘Reason’, self-starter Melanie C launched her own label, Red Girl Records in 2004 and has released four albums to date, including 2005’s ‘Beautiful Intentions’, 2007’s ‘This Time’, 2011’s ‘The Sea’ and 2012’s ‘Stages’.
In total, since 1996, Melanie C has sold more than 100 million records with the Spice Girls and further 12 million as a solo artist. Two of her songs
‘Never Be The Same Again’ and ‘I Turn To You’ became number 1 hits in the United Kingdom, while ‘First Day Of My Life’ ranked first in Germany and Switzerland.
Available tickets
With the huge demand for tickets, the only remaining ways for fans to secure a seat at LANXESS arena are through the official ticket partners and the final allocation of tickets to the four participating clubs. More information can be found at www.ehfFINAL4.com.
The VELUX EHF Champions League Last 16 phase is currently underway and all eight quarter-finalists, who will vie for the four places in Cologne, will be confirmed by Sunday 2 April. So far only FC Barcelona Lassa and HC Vardar have reached the last knockout round before the final event.
