The European Handball Federation is looking for a TV presenter to cover one of Europe’s biggest indoor sport events, the EHF EURO

Become the face of European handball

Do you want to be the TV face for one of Europe’s biggest sport events? Are you witty and smart, full of creative ideas for short video clips, with a good grasp of what works in TV sports coverage and without any fear of approaching some of handball’s biggest stars?

Are you team player, willing to lift the coverage of Europe’s most electrifying team sport to the next level?

The European Handball Federation is looking for a presenter, working on a freelance basis, as the face of its coverage at its flagship national team events, the Men’s and Women’s EHF EURO.

You will be the EHF host for the entire championship and the videos you present will be shown on the EHF’s channels such as ehfTV, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc.

The EHF EUROs take place every two years with the Men’s EHF EURO being played in January in even years and the Women’s EHF EURO being played in December in even years.

The next events will take place in January 2018, Men’s EHF EURO in Croatia, and December 2018, Women’s EHF EURO in France.

Your profile

You have presenting experience or you are looking to make your first steps in the world of TV. You have a strong interest in sport and you are looking for a new challenge.

You are a self-confident, team-playing and outgoing person that is full of ideas and bursts of creativity. You have a good idea how sport stories can be visualised and optimised for a social media audience.

You are a charismatic person who can easily talk to anyone, the fan in the tribune or the player in the mixed zone. You are funny and serious on camera at the same time and you can easily switch between the two as the situation requires.

Working under pressure does not stress you and while you are self-driven, you are nevertheless a team player, willing to work as part of one of the largest media operations in handball and keen on portraying the sport and the people who drive it.

Fluent English is essential and the ability to speak other European languages would be a definite advantage

Key experience

  • Ideally you will have experience in a TV environment or similar role or you believe that you have the skills and experience to be a success in that position
  • Sport coverage related experience in general and handball in particular is considered an asset
  • Experience in working in an international environment, across different cultures and languages

Key competencies

  • excellent communication and presentation skills
  • excellent spoken English
  • a good level of confidence and a clear voice
  • ability to generate original and creative ideas
  • good interviewing skills
  • good research skills
  • awareness of media law
  • the ability to take the initiative and make quick decisions under pressure
  • problem-solving skills
  • the ability to improvise
  • ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Key facts on the job

  • Next event: Men’s EHF EURO 2018 in Croatia (12 to 28 January 2018).
  • Type of employment and work place: freelance and event-based in Europe. Presenting EHF events beyond the EHF EURO may be a possibility
  • Payment: competitive based on experience and qualifications
