OFFICIAL STATEMENT: The EHF Court of Handball has reached a decision in a case opened against the Dutch Handball Federation for two violations to the EHF EURO Qualification Regulations
 

Dutch Handball Federation fined

The EHF Court of Handball has reached a decision in a case opened against the Dutch Handball Federation for two violations which occurred within the organisation of the Men’s EHF EURO 2018 qualifier Netherlands vs. Latvia on 7 May 2017.

The Dutch Federation did not deliver a TV signal via satellite which made it impossible to broadcast the match in Latvia. In addition, an unauthorised advertising was affixed on the judges’ table.

With regards to the failure of deliver a TV signal via satellite, this obligation is set forth in particular in the “Minimum Requirements for TV Host Broadcasters” applicable in accordance with Article 40 of the EHF EURO Qualification Regulations.

The panel found the failure to comply as a severe violation and imposed a fine of €36,000 in accordance with Article D.1 e) of the EHF List of Penalties.

Half of the fine is imposed on a suspended basis of two years as of the date of the present decision. The genuine willingness and positive attitude the Dutch federation displayed to find an alternative solution shortly before the match was taken into account.

As regards the unauthorised banner affixed on the judges’ table, the Panel imposed a fine of €2,000 in accordance with Article D.1 a) of the List of Penalties, finding that the Dutch Federation contravened in particular to Articles 27.10 and 27.11 of the EHF EURO Qualification Regulations and to the final information provided to the EHF for Rounds 3 and 4.

An appeal may be filed with the EHF Court of Appeal within seven days.​
