Strong comeback for Dalfsen, Close encounters in Serbia and Prague

It was as close as it could possibly be, when Serbian side ZRK Medicinar and Dutch side Succes Schoonemaak/VOC Amsterdam met in Sabac, Serbia, this weekend.

ZRK Medicinar won both matches in this double header on home ground by one goal: it was 34:33 on Friday and 29:28 on Saturday.

In both matches, the visitors were leading at half-time, but by the end, ZRK were celebrating their win. Now, they can start to prepare for the Russian side Kuban, who will be their next opponent.

It was just as close in Prague, where BNTU-BelAZ Minsk Reg were visiting DHC Slavia Praha for another double header.

The Belarusian visitors won the first match Saturday 25:24, and through a 24:24 draw Sunday, they managed to proceed to the second round, where they will be meeting the Norwegian side Tertnes Bergen.

Close was also the key word in the double header in Azerbabaijan, where NUR Mingechavir were faced Lugi HF from Sweden.

After a 24:24 draw on Saturday, the home team managed to earn a 29:27 win on Sunday and proceed to the next round, where their opponents will be none other than former back-to-back Women’s EHF Champions League winners Viborg HK from Denmark.

With 12 goals in the second leg, Russian centre back Alla Chernyshkova made an important contribution to securing her teams’ second round berth.

While the Netherlands lost one team in the first qualification round after Amsterdam’s exit, the country nevertheless has a team in the next round.

On home ground, Morrenhof Jansen Dalfsen were chasing a four-goal deficit against Galytchanka after losing 26:22 in Ukraine last weekend. Somehow, Dalfsen managed to turn the tables.

With a massive 30:20 lead, Dalfsen won the return match, leaving no doubt that they will be the ones to face DHK Banik Most from the Czech Republic in the next round.

Super Amara Bera Bera were defending the narrowest possible lead when visiting Portugal for the second leg against Colegio de Gaia.

The Spanish teams lead was only 26:25 after the first match, but as it turned out, Bera Bera had nothing to fear in the away game, which they won clearly, 31:23.

With 10 goals, Brazilian left back Giulia Guarieiro made a strong contribution to the Spanish teams triumph.

Turkish champions Kastamonu Beleddiyesi GSK are next on the agenda for Bera Bera.
