The EHF is looking for a social media expert to join its media and communications team. This busy and varied role includes responsibility for content planning, community management and growing the federation’s digital presence.
 

Job vacancy: Social Media Specialist

With a digital reach in excess of 380 million and a rapidly growing fan-following across social media channels, the European Handball Federation’s innovative approach to digital is helping to bring the sport to an ever-increasing number of people around the globe.

The EHF is now looking for an experienced social media specialist to join its team based in Vienna. This varied role includes responsibility for managing and developing the federation’s social media channels, including major competitions such as the EHF Champions League and EHF EURO, as well as working at major handball events across Europe.

Tasks will include planning and creating content, engaging with the sport’s digital community and developing digital campaigns for partners and sponsors. The successful candidate will have extensive experience of using all of the major social media platforms as well as a good understanding of analytics and reporting to optimise planning and scheduling of content.

The federation’s approach to digital is to go where the fans are and we engage with fans across a range of social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Snapchat.

The Social Media Specialist will play a key role in shaping the federation’s social media strategy to ensure that we reach and engage with the handball community and also grow the sport’s audience.

Key responsibilities:

Daily/seasonal planning and scheduling of content and campaigns for social media channels
Creation of engaging content (incl. text, graphics and video) on own initiative and with external agencies
Community management: pro-actively developing communication and interaction with/between fans
Using analytics and reporting to optimise planning and scheduling of content
Dealing with crisis communication across social media channels
Contribute to the development of a long-term social media strategy to grow digital reach
Creation and development of fan newsletters
Live blogging at major events
Additional tasks as required within the EHF Media & Communications department

Person specification:

Previous experience as a social media or community manager
Extensive knowledge and experience of working with all major social media platforms
Good understanding of how to communicate effectively through social media to reach key audiences
Ability to use analytics and reporting to optimise the planning process
Excellent written and spoken English, with an ability to use the right words at the time as well as the correct tone of voice
Ability to create and adapt graphics using Photoshop
Video editing skills and experience would be an advantage
Creative and prepared to try out new ideas/develop new formats for channels
Passion for sport essential; knowledge of handball and the EHF’s top competitions also an advantage
