PSG are ready for Veszprém

GROUP B REVIEW: Nedim Remili and Thierry Omeyer steer Paris Saint-Germain Handball to a clear 33:28 win against PGE Vive Kielce.

PSG are ready for Veszprém

Paris Saint-Germain Handball are ready for their double-header against current Group B leaders Telekom Veszprém HC.

This was made clear in their 33:28 win against 2016 VELUX EHF Champions League winners PGE Vive Kielce on Sunday, which concluded Round 6 of Group B.

  • PSG remain unbeaten on home ground in 24 straight Champions League matches.
  • Kielce lost all three of their away matches this season.
  • PSG right back Nedim Remili was top scorer with seven goals.

GROUP B

Paris Saint-Germain Handball (FRA) vs PGE Vive Kielce (POL) 33:28 (18:16)

How did PSG react to the news that their coach will change at the end of this season, from Noka Serdarusic, to Raul Gonzalez?

With one of their best performances of the season.

Boosted by a superb performance from the outgoing goalkeeper veteran Thierry Omeyer, and a top match from right back Nedim Remili, the French champions took revenge for the semi-final defeat against Kielce at the 2016 VELUX EHF FINAL4.

With 10 points in the Group B standings, PSG are the biggest threat to group leaders Veszprém, who have 11 points. On the other hand, Kielce remain on two points, after winning just one game in six group matches, and they currently sit in sixth position in the standings.

After PSG started strong to gain a 5:2 lead, the visitors had their best period of the game in the middle of the first half, where they punished a huge number of turnovers, and took the lead 12:9.

But a time-out was the wake-up call the hosts needed. After this, Omeyer tightened up his saves, and Kielce couldn’t find gaps to score anymore.

After having a narrow two-goal lead at the break, PSG easily extended this margin to 24:19, and after Remili scored by a counter-attack to make it 29:21, the deal was sealed.

Omeyer had finished his job, and he handed over the position between the posts to Rodrigo Corrales.

Kielce's Alex Dujshebaev commended PSG's performance:

“Paris put on a big performance today. In the second half, we were not focused enough and we made small mistakes. We will now look forward to our next games.”
